Shona artists, as well as artists from other local and regional groups are constantly working on different offerings which portray not only people and animals in their African art work but other natural things in their surrounding environment. We have recently discovered some lovely hand carved and painted Shona decorations and present them below. We have obtained a lovely collection of animal portraits done on Verdite by Russell Dlamini and other artists. While it's difficult to see in the photos shown, these lovely plaques stand on their own and can be placed on any shelf, desk, or similar surface. We can also reach the artists for additional pieces. Shona Holiday Decorations
We saw this item and decided to vary from our "one-only" rule. We have a reasonably good inventory of these lovely sets of holiday decorations. They are wooden -- hand made and painted by Shona crafts people in Zimbabwe. As shown in the photo, they have provision for inserting string or many other types of hanging devices. These lovely decorations come packed in sets of nine with colors varying somewhat. Great as gifts! The entire set weighs slightly over 8 ounces. The little elephant is the tallest piece at about 1 3/4 inches high. The other little decorations average from about an inch to 1 1/2 inches high.

Chameleons on a Rock
	A lovely and different rendering of a pair of chameleons on a rock. The statue was carved from a piece of gray brown Rapoko stone. This piece weighs 2 pounds 4 ounces. It is 6 1/2 inches high, 4 inches wide, and 1 1/2 inches deep.

Olive Green Pumpkin
A lovely pumpkin carved from Serpentine stone. The stone is olive/browny green with varied highlights. This piece weighs 3 pounds 8 ounces. It is 6 inches high, 4 inches wide, and 4 inches deep.

Warthog Verdite Plaque
	An engraved warthog done on Verdite by Russel Dlamini. This piece weighs 4 ounces. It is 2 7/8 inches high, 2 5/8 inches wide, and 3/4 inch deep.

Natural Serpentine Pumpkin
A lovely, large pumpkin with a naturally rough finish, carved from Serpentine stone. The stone is light green with varied highlights. The stem and single leaf are copper colored metal. This piece weighs 3 pounds 12 ounces. It is 3 inches high, 5 inches wide, and 5 inches deep.
